As an immigrant from Singapore, a person with hemophilia, a first-generation college graduate, and a trainee of top 10 institutions, I have experienced bias and privilege. I have learned firsthand the tremendous value and power of mentors that encouraged and helped me at every stage of my career. In my lab I strive to pay it forward by recruiting talent from underrepresented backgrounds and training them towards their top career goals in an environment that is supportive and values the journey and success of all.
