Research Summary

The Dhaka lab is interested in understanding how pain and temperature are encoded by the peripheral and central nervous system. We are currently pursuing projects to 1) understand how the intensity of noxious stimuli is encoded by different populations of peripheral neurons and 2) identify the central neural circuits that assign valence (appetitive or aversive) to thermal and nociceptive stimuli.
