Accepting Students For:
We want to quantitatively understand how properties of a microbial community arise from phenotypes of interacting members. Specifically, we are examining an engineered yeast cooperative community. We ask how this cooperative community’s tolerance to various perturbations might change as cells evolve.
We are also testing ways to force microbial communities to evolve in a way that suits our needs.
The strength of our lab lies in the organic integration of experimental biology and mathematical modeling.
