RNA splicing in hematopoietic stem cells and malignancies

We are interested in understanding molecular basis of blood cell development and how dysregulation drives hematologic malignancies such as myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and bone marrow failure. In particular, we are interested in understand how somatic mutations in the RNA splicing machinery impact the biology of hematopoietic stem cells and how they drive disease progression and response to therapy. The ultimate goal of our research is to develop novel treatments for patients with blood-related disorders including leukemia.
