Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

My goal is to make the world a better place, including the world of scientific research. Working to make scientific training safe (at a minimum) and nurturing is foundational to this goal. I founded the Below the Waterline (www.BelowTheWaterline.org) to drive positive culture change and make our culture more welcoming for women and gender minorities. My scholarship on the formation of scientific identity among postdoctoral scholars helps inform my approach in the lab and in the classroom. I also founded the UW Allies Program (https://sites.uw.edu/uwallies).
