Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
Based on my personal experience of living in two different countries (Japan and then the USA), I believe that diversity and inclusion are important aspects of maintaining welcoming and creative environments. We strive to learn from each other in various ways; for example, each speaker adds one diversity slide at the end of their presentation at lab meeting to share information about who they are outside of science. We will not tolerate any disrespect or mistreatment to lab members in the lab. We have a code of conduct for participating in our lab meeting to clarify our standpoints.
