Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

I am passionate about mentoring and dedicated to continually developing effective strategies to foster equitable and inclusive environments in the sciences. As a first-generation college graduate, I benefited tremendously from my mentors at each stage of my training, and I aspire to serve a similar role for the next generation of scientists. My ultimate goal is to challenge and support my mentees as they develop their interests and independence as scientists. I therefore emphasize the growth mindset and promote self-efficacy to cultivate a welcoming, curiosity-based approach to research. While my generation of scientists is more diverse than past ones, I am prepared to invest the time and mental resources needed to help make the sciences accessible and welcoming for all. I am optimistic that working together we can achieve that goal.
