Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

I believe a diverse and inclusive environment is essential to the academic mission of any University or Medical Center. This is particularly important to me as a minority individual from an underprivileged background. As a faculty member, I believe I have a fundamental responsibility to promote the inclusion of individuals across gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, and religion, and actively promote an open and inclusive environment where all can thrive. It is clear to me that increased representation of minorities creates a richer environment for students, trainees, and faculty, who see themselves represented among their colleagues and have access to role models that reflect their own diverse backgrounds.
