Research Summary

I am interested in better understanding the pathogenic mechanisms in autoimmunity. Specifically, my research aims to better understand the role IgA isotype anti-nuclear antibodies play in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). In SLE auto-reactive antibodies that bind to nucleic acids are considered pathogenic but little is known about how different isotype antibodies contribute to this pathology. I am conducting in vitro experiments with human samples to better understand how IgA auto-antibodies can stimulate immune cells.
