Mentoring Statement

Mentoring Philosophy and Lab Culture: I am deeply committed to training the next generation of microbiologists and immunologists. Their success and achievement is the ultimate measure of my own. I have mentored trainees from varied backgrounds and lived experiences, including five graduate students, two postdoctoral fellows, several undergraduate researchers, and have served
on over 20 graduate thesis committees. I am also committed to fostering a supportive, collegial, engaging, and rigorous research and training environment that promotes scientific and inclusive excellence. To further these goals, I serve on several committees focused on community-building, outreach, service, and trainee professional development.
